COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS

Helping Kids Stay in School and Prepare for Life

Carteret County

                                                               Dine Out For Kids

Deputies protect and serve…..dinner. Communities in Schools (CIS) of Carteret County is teaming up with Texas Steakhouse and the Carteret County Sheriff’s Department to host the first annual “Dine Out for Kids” on Thursday, May 22nd.  A portion of the days proceeds will be donated to Communities in Schools (CIS) of Carteret County. Patrons have the opportunity to demonstrate their support for Carteret County children in need just by eating out!

Communities in Schools (CIS) helps young people stay in school, graduate, and prepare for life by connecting needed community resources with local schools.  The funds raised by DOFK are invaluable to our community’s most needy students, and gives them the opportunity to achieve their best academically and personally in the classroom and in life.

Carteret County Sheriff’ s Department deputies are used to serving warrants, but on Thursday patrons at Texas Steakhouse will get to see how Sheriff Asa Buck and his deputies are at serving iced tea and coffee. The Sheriff’s Department is an advocate for Communities in Schools (CIS) of Carteret County and wants to demonstrate law enforcement’s concern for the children of Carteret County in a caring and welcome light.

“We don’t want to lose any high school students to the streets,” said Sheriff Asa Buck.   “Those who do not graduate from high school do not have a fair chance of making it or being able to provide for themselves. In the long run it hurts our county economically and morally.”

“Communities in Schools (CIS) of Carteret County is excited to have this opportunity to team up with the Carteret County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Steakhouse to help build brighter futures for our children and give them hope for a successful life,” said Sandy Giacobbi, Executive Director of Communities in Schools (CIS) of Carteret County.  “This is making the most of a delicious way to support some of our most at-risk youth.”

Texas Steakhouse will be open for the “Dine out for Kids” event from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Sheriff Asa Buck and deputies will begin their shifts from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
